Reviews and Recognition
Morgunblaðið - Review
(The Morning Paper)
“The Shadow Bridge is like a bolt from the blue and grips the reader from the first page … It’s a dark and enchanting story that takes place in a unique, shivering-cold world in the far future on some kind of Earth.”
Morgunblaðið - Books of the Year 2022
(The Morning Paper)
“The Shadow Bridge masterfully weaves together science fiction and adventure. The world it takes place in in could be the one that awaits mankind; the result of greed, hunger for power and cruelty; in one sense, it could be a parable.”
Kiljan - Review
(TV, National Broadcasting Service)
“There’s something incredibly fascinating about this book. It is so different, there is some deep thinking behind it … It’s so thought-through … What I’m so fond of is that it is so well written. It’s incredibly well written.”
“It’s the first book in a trilogy … so we just wait for it to continue … There’s plenty left in to tell in this world.”
Bókmenntavefurinn - Review
(The Literature Web, Reykjavík City Library)
“The Shadow Bridge is a great fantasy where both the story and the way it’s told enchant the reader … This first book in an upcoming trilogy bodes well for what is to come; it is both strong as an independent story but, simultaneously, it raises questions and the reader’s curiosity as to what will happen next.”
“Fantastic tales are often classified as either science fiction or fantasy. The uncertainty as to which category the Shadow Bridge falls under greatly increases the thrill of reading the book. The reader cannot trust in the conventions of genres to figure out the events portrayed, or to explain the world in which the story takes place. The Shadow Bridge spans the borders of literary genres and plays with them; hence it is truly a fantastic tale.”
Lestrarklefinn - Review
(The Readig Booth, book webzine)
“I thought it was great. It’s not easy to create such a vast world … At first I could hardly believe it was a story in Icelandic written by an Icelandic author. We are so used to reading fantasy … from the English-speaking world, and suddenly, here come a big novel in Icelandic.”
“This is a really ambitious book … its long and deep … one sinks totally into this world.”

Grassroots Grant
of the Icelandic Literature Centre
The manuscript of the Shadow Bridge was awarded the Grassroots Grant of the Icelandic Literature Center in June 2020.
From the award conclusion:
“Various conflicts of light and shadow, the imagined and real, are carried far and wide across the icy north, but take place as well in people’s minds. In a tightly woven text, a multifaceted and carefully constructed world is drawn up; an exceptionally nuanced style makes the environment and the forces of nature palpable.”
